Session 13 (Finding the Sewer Entrance)
Bruised the heroes retreated from the cellar. After the fight subsided keen ears had heard flushing water and while walking down to the temple of Peraine to get their wounds treated a plan for a better approach was forming.
Over the course of the sessions in Honeyngton i mentioned often the the city was planned to house a much larger population and therefore everything was dimensioned larger. And I used the sewers as an example, mentioning manhole covers all over the city, like right in front of the white vagabond inn the heroes were staying in.
With the sounds of water attributed to the sewer manhole just south of the ghost house the heroes put their attention to the sewers, though that particular one was out in the open on a public square.
The next two were on a road and on an intersection
The temple was open and by chance Gilia had duty. Quickly she cleaned the wounds and advised that rats could transfer illnesses.
By the time the heroes were approaching the white vagabond to sleep, the sun crept up in the east. Around midday they started to look for sewer manholes in less open places and found one near the eastern city wall, obscured by bushes from the nearby road. They tried different methods of opening the manhole cover and managed to look inside. It looked like an endpoint of a smaller line.
Considering how far they would have to walk underground with little knowledge how the sewers are connected, they decided to seek entry closer to the ghost house to avoid being lost in the maze of sewers. They picked the manhole a bit further south of the ghost house, waited until the evening and until that road seemed less traveled to enter the sewers without anyone noticing.
All this time the heroes were shadowed by the cultists who realised quickly what the heroes wanted to do.
