Bad Luck Villain
Some villains are the heroes of their own story. Not so Drego Travinger, though some think he might be a hero, he desperately wants to be the villain. He is just not very good at it.
And it’s even not just his fault. Yes, he is incompetent at plotting, but far worse is the bad luck he has in most of his villainous endeavours. He is convinced a witch cursed him with bad luck and his plans turn out to benefit the small town he lives in, making him quite well liked and respected.
When he first came to the town some minerals had started to leach into the ground water and made the water taste bitter and have a slight tint of purple. Thinking this was a certain rare mineral used in mind control potions, he bought the other, easier to obtain ingredients for that potion and one night dumped them into the towns water supply, already dreaming about a whole town of mindless minions under his control.
Alas the mineral was not the one he thought and the other ingredients turned out to be the perfect antidote to the real mineral’s poisonous effect on the town.
On top of that, a number of townsfolk saw him sneaking around at night and dumping something in the water supply before the next morning the water was again clear and fresh.
Every other plan he had ended with similar results, turning him into a saviour and benefactor of the town, earning him the honour of becoming the mayor.
He eventually started to hire scrupulous henchmen to find the witch and lift the curse but even that backfired when the henchmen attacked him and his family.
The witch must have turned them against him. Certainly.
