When we meet Aurelian 4 years later, he has become a blessed of Praios after more than a decade just being an acolyte. This helps him in his role of auditing alchemy laboratories as he can now detect magical potency in potions.

While player characters typically start as blessed and also most NPCs typically start their education to become a blessed of a god in their early teens latest, it is not uncommon to find their way to a god later in life. This can be a good pathway for player characters as well. Especially profane/mundane characters can run out of things to spend their AP on while spell casters are still learning some basics. If they feel the calling to a god in later life, they can become acolytes and eventually be blessed. From a practical perspective, saving up 150+ AP seems daunting and while ingame they will reveive their powers in one go at their ordination ceremony it might be useful to stagger this or to credit them the AP and pay off over the next few adventures.

Also it can be quite fun to think about which god would be a good choice to bless your character. Don’t always go for the obvious choices.
