While the Horasian Empire is rather new, it sees itself in the tradition of the Old Empire (Empire of Bosparan). 2500 years ago the empire started to spread from a former penal colony on the western coast and shortly before its downfall over a thousand years ago it had conquered and subjugated most of the continent. In this tradition and in conflict with the Empire of AlAnfa the Horasian Empire established colonies in the Charybbean around the Forest Islands.
Sanya dy Marcia is the daughter of a former governor in one of those colonies but grew up in Vinsalt and moves gracefully through the jungle that is the upper class of the Horasian Empire. Early on she learned how to manipulate people to her wishes and while still young she has an excellent understanding of her potential.
