Crafting:
The Aventuria Compendium gives rules on how to craft items as a PC, but what about if your character instead wishes to commission work from a local blacksmith? As a new GM to the system, I was surprised to find this isn't covered. As such I spent some time discussing this with the other writers for this blog. Below are some guidelines we have put together to help do this.
Calculate the cost of the item as follows:
75% of the normal cost times the sum of manufacturing interval increases (e.g. folding technique is x5, modifications per compendium have their own interval increases.)
+
25% of normal costs times a modifier for the material costs (this isn't provided in the compendium, but please see our suggestions below)
Metal | Material Cost Modifier |
Bronze | x.5 |
Dwarven Steel | X2 |
Iron | x.75 |
Great River Steel | x1 |
Khunhcom Steel | x1.25 |
Maraskan Steel | X1.5 |
Mirham Steel | X1.25 |
Prem Steel | x1 |
Sod Iron | x.9 |
Toshkril | x5 |
Uhdenmount Steel | x1 |
Wood | |
Bone | x.5 |
Cyclopes Cedar | x1 |
Ebony | x1.5 |
Horn | x.75 |
Ironwood | x3 |
Stone Oak | X2.5 |
Stone | |
Flint | x.75 |
Volcanic Glass | x.75 |
Cloth | |
Drolan Lace | x1.5 |
Phraisheep Wool | x2 |
Leather | |
Iryan Leather | x2 |
Wooly Mammoth Leather | x2 |
NPC craftsman max interval increases = crafting rank /2 (just as a guideline on how complex an item a craftsman might reasonably be able to make).
e.g.
A Long Sword would cost 200 silverthalers (base price)
A Mirham Steel Long Sword would cost. 212.5 silverthalers (50*1.25 for material + 150 for work)
A Mirham Steel Long Sword that deals +1 DP would cost 662.5 silverthalers (50*1.25 for material + 150*4 for work)
A Gambeson is 150 silverthalers
A Phraisheep Wool Gambeson would be 187.5 silverthalers (37.5*2 for material + 112.5 for work)
A Phraisheep Wool Gambeson that grants +1 PRO would cost 637.5 silverthalers (37.5*2 for materials and 112.5*5 for wok)
Prices of course, can be negotiated with commerce as normal!
