Hakim al Fessir is also a merchant, wishing for protection. He has hired a number of Tulamid Riders, a renowned mercenary unit, on long term contracts, like Asra Babasunya. She is a young recruit, but her father served the Riders for many years.

No one gives Asra any slack for her heritage and she had to work even harder than other recruits.

Almost born on horseback, she is despite her young age a formidable rider, though Hakim often uses his guards on foot to protect him, only being mounted when travelling in a caravan.
