Two-handed swords are considered privileged weapons, that only a few people were allowed to carry. Knights, academic warriors and blessed of Rondra were these privileged few. Against their objections in recent decades mercenaries, first in the southern parts of aventuria, were appearing wielding two handed swords. These so called Double-Mercs were so sought after, that they earned double salary.

Alveron has done this job for over 20 years and survived a number of wars during that time, though he had to see a lot of death. Witnessing mortality has made him cautious and in recent years he was keen to not end up in a war again.

He now has joined this small group of mercenaries, as guarding merchant caravans is less exiting than wars.
