Before its independence Arania as a province was known to be the Granary of the Middenrealm. Blessed with arable lands and warm but not too dry climate, large fields of wheat and other grains covered the landscape. The culture has some influence by Middenrealm settlers coming in from the north and Tulamids from the south. Tariqs family came a few generations ago when the Middenrealm still had a strong grip over the province. But the family adopted and Tariq is named after his Father Taref instead of using their old family name Birchgrove.

Tariq is a farmer, specialised in grains and less confident in the animal care side of farming.
